SEA business intelligence trends — and how Myanmar SMEs should respond
2026-09-15 · 6 min read
Across Southeast Asia, surveys of data and IT leaders show business intelligence moving from “nice to have” to critical. Cloud-hosted analytics, generative AI on top of dashboards, and automation around reporting are the three themes that keep appearing. Asia-Pacific is also among the fastest-growing regions in the global BI software market.
Myanmar SMEs should translate that trend carefully. You do not need a full data fabric on day one. You do need the same foundations SEA leaders are investing in: one agreed set of KPIs, a refreshable dataset (even a small warehouse), and a dashboard pack finance and marketing both trust — usually Power BI or Looker Studio.
Regional talent and cost patterns still favour Power BI for many Microsoft 365-heavy teams; Looker Studio stays strong for Google Ads / Analytics-centric marketing. Neither tool magically connects every local ad or marketplace export — you often need a light data service layer to clean Facebook, Google, and spreadsheet exports before the chart looks honest.
Practical Myanmar roadmap this month: (1) run a short KPI workshop, (2) publish one weekly executive view, (3) retire the competing Excel “finals.” That is how global BI momentum becomes local competitive advantage — without a multi-year IT programme.
